Cause of Death: accident with farm equipment
In the afternoon of July 6, 1980, while trying to fix a pulley to the carrier at the end of the track, the double harpoon hay fork and truck slipped off the end of the track , one prong striking him below th e left collarbone, tearing open the main artery from which he bleed to death in a few minutes. He was alone in the barn and dead when found. His daughter Rebecca was born two weeks later.
