In 1795 Rev. Samuel Hilton moves from North Carolina and builds a cabin on the banks of the North Fork of the Holston River at present day Hiltons, Virginia. He was a minister and established the first Baptist Church in Scott County, Virginia

Enos came to Missouri in 1841, with his wife, Annabell, and their family, the 1860 Census of Missouri shows Nancy Hilton was born in Virginia, Sarah born in Missouri. At the time Enos Hilton is shown as a resident of Mountain Twp. Barry County. All of the sons who were of age fought for the Union during the civil war. A Church Of God minister .
